Police have launched an investigation after a body was discovered following a house fire west of Coffs Harbour early this morning.
Emergency services were called to Dillon Close in Bellingen shortly after 5:10am, where a two-storey home was found engulfed in flames.
One woman managed to escape the property, however, a second resident was unaccounted for. Fire and Rescue NSW crews brought the blaze under control by about 5:40am.
During a search of the property, firefighters located a body believed to be that of the missing resident.
Officers from the Coffs/Clarence Police District have established a crime scene as investigations continue to formally identify the deceased and determine the cause of the fire.
