Breaking: NSW Police Officer Found Dead in Bateau Bay – Critical Incident Declared

Monday, 6 April 2026 – 7:34 PM

Authorities have declared a critical incident after a NSW Police officer was found dead at a home in Bateau Bay early this morning.

Around 6:00 AM, a 56-year-old Sergeant was discovered deceased. Police say initial inquiries suggest the death is not suspicious. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The Professional Standards Command is leading the critical incident investigation, which is being overseen by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC).
