Recent changes by the Government has reclassified parts of the Hunter from being rural to metropolitan meaning the incentive for bulk billing children and concessions holders has drastically dropped from $9.65 down to $6.40 and many doctors are now opting to charge privately leaving the most valuable patients out of pocket.
Joel Fitzgibbon MP has asked the government to re think their decision and to re classify the parts of Hunter as rural again making it viable for doctors to keep bulk billing.
