A routine traffic stop in Maitland has turned into a major drug bust after police allegedly found a stash of methamphetamine worth over $14,000 on a motorcyclist.
Just after 11pm on Sunday night (25 May 2025), officers patrolling Grant Street pulled over a motorcycle. The 26-year-old rider underwent a roadside breath and drug test, allegedly returning a positive result for meth.
Police say a search of the man uncovered a significant quantity of methylamphetamine. He was immediately arrested and taken to Maitland Police Station, where he was charged with supplying a prohibited drug.
The man was refused bail and is facing Maitland Local Court today (Monday, 26 May 2025). Authorities confirm the oral fluid test has been sent for further analysis, with more charges possible.
