Cold Case Heats Up: New Clues in 2008 Lake Macquarie Double Murder
Authorities are renewing their appeal for information in the unsolved double murder of Robert Pashkuss and Stacey McMaugh, 16 years after their bodies were found at their Lake Macquarie home.
On January 6, 2008, the community of Caves Beach was shaken by the discovery of 50-year-old Robert and 41-year-old Stacey deceased inside their residence. Their deaths were deemed suspicious, sparking a 16-year-long investigation by Strike Force Chuter involving the Homicide Squad and Lake Macquarie Police District.
Despite numerous leads, the case remains unsolved. However, a recent breakthrough suggests a potential link to organized crime: Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMCGs) operating in NSW and Queensland.
Investigators have also pinpointed a key clue: Robert was seen with an unidentified man wearing a black leather vest on the afternoon of January 5th, 2008, appearing agitated. The murders are suspected to have occurred that evening, marking Friday, January 5th, 2024 as the 16th anniversary of this chilling event.
A $250,000 reward, offered by the NSW Government in 2016, remains available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator(s).
Detective Inspector Jason Bainbridge emphasizes that no detail is insignificant, and even the smallest piece of information could unlock the case: “Any person with information, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, is urged to come forward. Your information could be the missing piece of the puzzle that helps us solve these murders and bring closure to the families of Robert and Stacey.”
If you have any information about this case, please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Remember, you can remain anonymous, and your call could bring long-awaited justice to the victims and their loved ones.
