Liberal Central Ward Councillor Sally Halliday has submitted her intention to rescind plans by Maitland Mayor Loretta Baker to cut red bins from a weekly service to a fortnightly service from 2024. On 25 May 2021 the Mayor used a Mayoral Minute to further endorse an earlier motion moved by Labor Councillors on April 27 to cut red bin services by half as part of the council’s Food Organics and Garden Organics program (FOGO).
