An elected Dutton Coalition Government has pledged $800,000 to upgrade the Salamander Sports Complex in Port Stephens, promising much-needed improvements to one of the region’s key sporting hubs.
Liberal Candidate for Paterson, Laurence Antcliff, said the complex is home to hockey, rugby, and cricket but is in desperate need of upgrades to improve safety and accessibility for local athletes.
“Every week, hundreds of locals use these fields, and they deserve safe and quality facilities,” Mr. Antcliff said.
“The playing surfaces need urgent resurfacing, lighting upgrades will allow for longer use, and new scoreboards will improve the gameday experience for teams and fans alike.”
Mr. Antcliff emphasized the importance of sport in fostering community connections and improving physical and mental well-being, arguing that local teams should not have to put up with substandard facilities.
“This investment can only be delivered by a Dutton Coalition Government, because our strong economic management allows us to fund crucial local projects like this.”
He also thanked the local community for supporting the campaign to secure this funding.
The announcement comes as part of the Coalition’s broader vision to invest in infrastructure and support regional communities.
