A tragic accident in Lake Macquarie this morning has claimed the life of an 80-year-old pedestrian after he was struck by a car on Croudace Bay Road, Valentine.
Emergency services rushed to the scene around 6:30 AM on Wednesday, 19 March 2025, where NSW Ambulance paramedics provided urgent medical attention. The elderly man was transported to John Hunter Hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he later passed away.
The driver of the vehicle, a 77-year-old man, was taken to Belmont Hospital for mandatory testing, as part of standard procedures following serious crashes.
Lake Macquarie Police District officers established a crime scene, and investigators are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner as the investigation continues.
