Here we go again. The government’s solution to energy challenges isn’t smarter policy, infrastructure, or real competition—it’s planting canola fields and promising Australians that burning vegetables will save us from diesel.
Let’s be honest. Converting canola into fuel isn’t cheap. Raw canola oil already costs nearly $2 per litre. Factor in processing, refineries, and supply chains, and Australians are looking at paying up to $3 per litre if not more.
The government talks about jobs and a “$36 billion industry by 2050.” Meanwhile, the people pay more at every fill-up, all so bureaucrats and investors can pat themselves on the back for being eco-conscious. And sourcing enough canola to replace diesel across the country? Dream on.
This is classic top-down policy gone mad. Canberra’s answer: eat your vegetables—then burn them. Australians deserve real solutions, not a government-subsidized canola fantasy that will send fuel prices through the roof.
