News Update: P2 Licence Holder Caught Speeding 66kph Over Limit
In a recent incident on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at approximately 7:19 AM, officers from the Newcastle City Highway Patrol made a startling discovery. A Subaru Impreza was detected traveling at a whopping 166kph on the M1 Motorway in Stockrington, a designated 110kph zone.
What makes this incident particularly alarming is that the driver, when asked for identification, presented a New South Wales P2 license, which strictly limits them to a maximum speed of 100kph. The driver explained that they were rushing to TAFE.
Law enforcement issued the driver an Infringement Notice for exceeding the speed limit by over 45kph. Additionally, the driver received a Notice of Suspension for a period of six months.
Furthermore, as the registered owner of the Subaru Impreza, the vehicle’s number plates were seized for a duration of three months.
