House Fire in Birmingham Gardens NSW Fire and Rescue respond to blaze early Monday morning
About 1:30 am on Monday, January 1, 2024, Wallsend Fire & Rescue were called to an address in Rae Street in Birmingham Gardens after reports of a house fire. Upon arrival, crews observed a multi-story residential home fully engulfed in flames. Crews quickly got to work extinguishing the fire, ensuring neighboring properties were not under threat from the intense flames.
Residents of the home sustained injuries from the fire and were conveyed to the hospital by NSW Ambulance & Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. Newcastle City Police District conducted a crime scene examination of the home, with the fire not being treated as suspicious.
The ignition of the fire is believed to have started at the rear of the home, but the source of the fire has yet to be identified.

“Our crews did an excellent job in bringing the fire under control and preventing it from spreading to neighboring properties. We are working closely with the police to investigate the cause of the fire.”
