Hunter Water is making major strides in securing water reliability for the region, with a $30 million investment in reservoir upgrades across multiple sites.
Key locations include:
📍 Morisset
📍 Arcadia Vale
📍 Harpers Hill (Lochinvar-Greta)
📍 The Hill Reservoir (Newcastle)
📍 Cameron Park & West Wallsend
📍 North Lambton
The upgrades will extend the lifespan of infrastructure, increase storage capacity, and improve water quality—ensuring a sustainable and efficient water supply for the growing population.
Hunter Water’s Executive Manager Customer Delivery, Glen Robinson, emphasized the importance of future-proofing the network through cost-effective refurbishments rather than full replacements.
🔹 Harpers Hill will get a new, larger reservoir and an upgraded pipeline to support population growth.
🔹 Cameron Park is getting a new reservoir and pump station, replacing the West Wallsend Reservoir for better water pressure and supply resilience.
🔹 The Hill Reservoir No. 2 restoration is set to be completed by June, with heritage preservation on Hill Reservoir No. 1 continuing into 2025.
“These upgrades will secure water supply for the next 15 to 20 years, ensuring reliable service for both new and existing customers,” Mr. Robinson said.
