I Was Just Driving: Driver Clocked at 170km on Mt Panorama

Ford mustang detected at 170km/h on Conrod Straight, Mt Panorama.

About 6pm on Saturday 13th of April 2024, officers attached to Bathurst Highway Patrol, detected an orange Ford mustang travelling as high as 170km/h before reducing to 164km/h in the signposted 60km/h residential area.

The driver, 22year old male from Kellyville in Sydney was stopped and spoken to about his speed, to which he replied, “I was just driving”.

The driver returned a negative roadside breath test, however the drug test returned positive to Cannabis. He was conveyed to Bathurst Police Station where the secondary oral fluid drug test also returned positive to Cannabis.

As a result, the driver was issued a Court Attendance Notice to appear before Bathurst Local Court for the offence of driving at a speed dangerous to the public. His NSW driver’s licence was also suspended on the spot.

Due to the driver not being the registered owner of the vehicle , the number plates were not seized.

Further charge pending in relation to Cannabis in his oral fluid, once the drug analysis results return.
