Wollombi Rd Upgrade ‘Still on Track’, Council Quashes Online Rumours
Rumours circulating online have claimed the Wollombi Rd Upgrade has run out of money and is about to be shut down — but Council says that’s simply not true. Several social media posts suggested the project was “doomed”, causing concern among residents already frustrated by ongoing delays.
In response to questions from MHV News, Council’s media team confirmed the upgrade is continuing as planned. They said Council and contractor Symal are working collaboratively to review the project program and scope of works to ensure the best possible outcome for the community.
Although site activity will decrease over the coming weeks, Council says the slowdown is part of scheduled close-out works and seasonal demobilisation, not a halt to construction. The reduced activity will help improve local access and maintain a reliable water supply through summer.
Council stressed that forecasts for the grant-funded program remain on track, dismissing claims that the project has run out of money.
