John Moores has officially announced his candidacy for re-election with the Liberal Party in the upcoming 2024 Local Government Elections, scheduled for Saturday, September 14th. Moores will be contesting both the Mayoral position and the Ward B seat.
Having served two terms as Deputy Mayor, Moores feels well-prepared for the challenges ahead. “I’ve learned a lot over the two years in that role,” he stated. He emphasized his decision to run again stems from community feedback indicating a loss of confidence in the current leadership and a feeling that their voices are not being heard.
“My passion for the city remains strong. I have been a resident for 51 years and I am proud of what the Liberals have achieved in our past term,” Moores said. He expressed confidence in his team, which includes both familiar faces and new members, to steer the city in a positive direction.
Moores concluded by stating, “Ultimately, the decision will be that of our community on election day to vote for change.”
