About 2.00am on Saturday 13th March police attended a motor vehicle collision on Lockyer Street Adamstown. The 18-year-old male learner driver was submitted to a roadside breath test and returned a positive result. He was taken to Newcastle Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis that returned a result of 0.092. The driver had his licence suspended immediately.
The passenger of the vehicle was conveyed to John Hunter Hospital for treatment to a fractured arm. The passenger was the holder of a provisional licence and as such not legally able to supervise the learner. The driver was issued a court attendance notice for driving with mid-range PCA and learner not accompanied by licensed driver and will appear in Newcastle Local Court in April.
