The local Labor team has officially announced their candidates for Ward C in the upcoming Cessnock City Council elections, scheduled for Saturday, 14 September. The team includes:
- Sophie Palmowski: A mother, midwife, and proud member of the Branxton Greta community. Despite being unsuccessful in the 2021 elections, Sophie remains dedicated to public service. With a family history in Branxton spanning three generations, she deeply values the sense of closeness and community spirit. Sophie is committed to supporting local businesses and being a strong voice for the community as it continues to grow.
- Mitchell Lea: A health worker who also volunteers at local sports clubs. While there is limited information available about Mitchell, the community is eager to learn more about his contributions and vision for Ward C before the September elections.
- Councillor Anne Sander: A lifelong resident of the Cessnock LGA, Anne has seen many changes in the community. As a current Labor councillor, she believes in giving the community a voice and encouraging public conversations to build trust and understanding with the Council. If re-elected, Anne aims to ensure committed projects within the next delivery plan are completed on time and on budget, maintaining community confidence and embracing opportunities to make the city a better place.
Jay Suvaal, the Mayoral candidate running again for the position, expressed enthusiasm about the team, stating, “Over the coming months, we will continue to be out and about across our community. Please come and say hi or reach out to talk to us about how we can make Cessnock an even better place to live.”
