The incident unfolded around 2:30 pm when officers from the proactive crime team of the Newcastle City Police District were conducting patrols in the Mayfield West area. Their attention was drawn to a Range Rover Evoque on Morris Street.
Upon stopping the vehicle, they engaged with the driver, a 29-year-old man, and his 27-year-old male passenger. A subsequent search of the car led to the alleged discovery and seizure of methamphetamine, estimated to have a potential street value of $156,000.
