Central Coast, NSW – 6 March 2026 – A 49-year-old man has been formally charged following a tragic double fatal car crash on the Pacific Highway near Wadalba late last year.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 2:15 AM on Sunday, 14 December 2025, after a head-on collision between a sedan and a hatchback. The crash claimed the lives of a 45-year-old female driver and her 38-year-old passenger, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
The sedan driver, 49, sustained serious arm and leg injuries and was rushed to John Hunter Hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District established a crime scene, and specialist Crash Investigation Unit officers were called in to examine the circumstances. Both vehicles were seized for forensic examination.
After a thorough investigation, the 49-year-old man has been charged with multiple serious driving offences, including:
- Two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death
- Two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death – excessive speed
- Two counts of negligent driving causing death
- Two counts of aggravated dangerous driving exceeding 45 km/h over limit
- Negligent driving with no death or grievous bodily harm
- Failing to keep left of the dividing line (not class B/C vehicle)
He has been issued a Court Attendance Notice and is set to appear at Wyong Local Court on Wednesday, 22 April 2026. His license has been suspended pending court proceedings.
