A 47-year-old man has been charged after allegedly setting fire to a home, an SUV, and a motorcycle in Warners Bay late last night.
Emergency services were called to Margaret Street just after 11pm on Monday, 9 June 2025, following reports of a house fire. Fire and Rescue NSW crews arrived to find the home and two vehicles fully alight. Despite efforts to contain the blaze, the property was completely destroyed.
Fortunately, the house was unoccupied at the time and no injuries have been reported.
Lake Macquarie Police established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
At around 3:05am today, Tuesday 10 June 2025, officers attended a service station on Lake Road in Argenton, where they arrested the 47-year-old man.
He was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with destroying or damaging property by fire/explosive (domestic violence-related), with damage exceeding $15,000.
The man was refused bail and is due to appear in Belmont Local Court later today.
