Breaking News: Search Underway for Missing Helicopter and Occupants near Port Stephens
Concerns have arisen as a pilot and his dog remain unaccounted for after their helicopter seemingly vanished in the vicinity of Port Stephens. The helicopter had departed from Cessnock en route to Wallace Island near Kempsey yesterday at 8:50 am, but failed to reach its intended destination.
Authorities from the Port Stephens-Hunter Police District are intensifying efforts, combing the land and sea around the area with the assistance of the Marine Area Command. At present, a 54-year-old man and his canine companion were reported to be on board during the ill-fated flight.
As the search intensifies, the latest update reveals that Marine Rescue Port Stephens has also joined in the operation. Additionally, debris has been located on Bennetts Beach, although authorities have yet to confirm whether it is associated with the missing helicopter.
