A man has tragically died after being hit by a car in Lake Macquarie early this morning.
Emergency services responded to a call around 3:15 AM today (Wednesday, 26 June 2024) reporting a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Alhambra Avenue, Cardiff.
According to the Lake Macquarie Police District, the man was lying on the road when he was hit by a utility vehicle. Despite the swift arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He has not yet been formally identified.
The 45-year-old male driver was transported to the hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
