News Update: Werakata National Park To Close for Pest Control
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will close Werakata National Park from Monday, June 3, to Thursday, June 6, 2024, for an aerial shooting operation aimed at managing pest animals, specifically deer. This initiative is part of a statewide conservation effort to protect threatened species and mitigate the economic damage caused by deer to nearby vineyards.
The park will be off-limits to all visitors during the operation. Signs will be posted at all formal access points to the affected area, and penalties will apply to anyone entering the closed zones without authorization.
