Breaking News: Police Chase and Arrests in Newcastle
Last night, a police pursuit took place through Newcastle resulting in the arrest of a man and woman. The chase began when police attempted to pull over a station wagon on Newcastle Road, Jesmond, for a random breath test. The driver failed to stop and a pursuit ensued, which ended in Kotara South after road spikes were successfully deployed.
The 36-year-old male driver has been charged with five counts of possessing prohibited drugs, police pursuit, driving dangerously, and resisting police officer in the execution of duty. Meanwhile, the 29-year-old female passenger has been charged with possessing prohibited drugs, possessing prescribed restricted substance, and breaching bail.
