Police have launched an investigation after the body of a man was discovered on the M1 Pacific Motorway near Billinudgel on Sunday night.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 7.15pm (10 August 2025) following reports that multiple vehicles had collided with an unoccupied motorcycle.
Initial inquiries indicate three cars struck the bike before a passer-by found the body of the alleged male rider nearby. The man is yet to be formally identified.
Two drivers were taken to Byron Bay Hospital and another to Tweed Valley Hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established, with the Crash Investigation Unit examining the circumstances. All vehicles involved have been seized for forensic analysis.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
