The drama unfolded around 11:50am Monday on the Stockton Bridge when a minor collision between two vehicles escalated. Police allege that after stopping on Teal Street, Kooragang, the drivers began arguing — and one reportedly threatened the other with a pistol before both drove off.
The victim, a 56-year-old man, later reported the incident at Waratah Police Station.
After extensive investigations, officers from Newcastle City Police District and Ryde Police raided a home on Hamilton Crescent, Ryde, around 5pm Monday, arresting a 77-year-old man and seizing a pistol.
He has been charged with:

- Stalk/intimidate with intent to cause fear of physical harm
The man was refused bail and will appear before Burwood Local Court today, and a firearm suspension notice has been issued.
