A major investigation is underway after two people were killed in a devastating multi-vehicle crash at Kooragang near Newcastle on Tuesday morning. Emergency services were called to Cormorant Road, Kooragang, about 9.25am (Tuesday 17 February 2026) after reports of a serious collision in the northbound lanes. Police were told a Subaru sedan and a van collided, leaving the occupants of the Subaru critically injured. Despite urgent efforts by NSW Ambulance paramedics, both occupants died at the scene.
