An 18-year-old man has died following a shooting at Bar Beach carpark late Wednesday night.
Emergency services were called to the carpark on Memorial Drive around 11:40 PM (Wednesday, 23 April), where they found the young man suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts by NSW Ambulance paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, a group was involved in a fight at the carpark when a white SUV pulled up. A man reportedly exited the vehicle, fired a shot, and fled in the same SUV.
The victim has not yet been formally identified. A crime scene has been established, and detectives from Newcastle City Police District are being supported by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad in the ongoing investigation.
