In a shocking incident early this morning, a manhunt is now in progress as authorities search for a suspect responsible for shooting two individuals in Gateshead.
At approximately 2:20am, emergency services rushed to Cassia Crescent following reports of gunshots. On arrival, they discovered a 42-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds.
Reports suggest that a male suspect believed to be in his 30s fled the scene before police arrived.
Both victims received immediate medical attention at the scene and were subsequently transported to John Hunter Hospital. The male victim sustained an arm injury, while the female victim suffered a leg injury. Both are currently in serious but stable conditions.
A designated crime scene has been established as local law enforcement launches an investigation into the incident.
