Tragedy Strikes Outside Minto Mall: Baby Killed, Child Seriously Injured in Car Accident
A devastating incident occurred outside Minto Mall in Sydney’s southwest on Monday afternoon, resulting in the death of a five-month-old baby and serious injuries to a five-year-old child.
At approximately 3:30 PM, emergency services responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the car park on Brookfield Road. Upon arrival, police commenced CPR on the infant before she was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics. Tragically, the baby could not be saved.
Witnesses reported that the baby was in her pram when the incident occurred. The five-year-old child was treated at the scene and subsequently transported to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a serious condition.
The 35-year-old driver of the vehicle was uninjured. A witness described the scene as “very traumatic,” noting the presence of numerous shoppers and emergency responders.
An investigation into the incident is underway, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
