Cessnock City Council’s Annual Native Plant Giveaway Promotes Greening of the Region
The Cessnock City Council is gearing up for its much-anticipated annual native plant giveaway event, aimed at fostering a greener environment within the Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA). The event is scheduled to take place this Saturday, September 23, from 2 to 4 pm at Turner Park, located at 49 Aberdare Rd, Aberdare.
This initiative seeks to remind residents of the upcoming opportunity to enrich their surroundings with free native flora, and it promises to be a vibrant and eco-conscious affair. The event will offer an array of native tube stocks, including species such as creeping myoporum, pigface, kangaroo grass, coastal rosemary, thyme honey-myrtle, white kunzea, prickly-leaved paperbark, and silky hakea. Moreover, attendees will also have the chance to acquire premium compost crafted from 100% locally sourced and processed garden organics waste, further supporting sustainable gardening practices.
The giveaway will continue “while stocks last” and is open to all Cessnock LGA residents, allowing each household to claim up to five native plants. This generous offering not only beautifies local landscapes but also supports biodiversity and ecosystem health.
Cessnock City Council encourages all residents to participate in this green initiative, contributing to the preservation and enhancement of the natural beauty of the region. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to bring a touch of nature to your doorstep while promoting a sustainable future for Cessnock.
