Evacuation centres for those who need them, have been set up at Merriwa RSL, School of Arts and the Showground – for those with pets, horses, stock etc. Two Sec 44 fires declared by Rural Fire Service in Upper Hunter Shire. One at Barrington Tops with a group of fires. The other is on the Goulburn River near Merriwa called the Meads Creek West Fire.
