In a high-octane showdown straight out of an action movie, a 24-year-old man has been arrested after leading police on a dangerous pursuit from Bidwill to Warnervale, hitting speeds of up to 160km/h!
It all began around 7:10 PM last night when Mt Druitt police spotted the man slumped over the steering wheel of a car parked at the intersection of Chestnut Crescent and Luxford Road. But as officers approached, the man bolted, sparking a chaotic chase.
The pursuit tore through Sydney’s streets and into the North Connex Tunnel, but police were forced to call it off in Wahroonga for safety reasons. Minutes later, the chase reignited on the M1 at Berowra, only to be abandoned again.
Enter PolAir—the police helicopter swooped in to track the rogue driver. The dramatic pursuit finally came to a screeching halt near Sparks Road, Warnervale, after officers deployed road spikes, stopping the unregistered vehicle an hour after the madness began.
The man, who holds only a Queensland learner’s license, was cuffed on the spot and taken to Wyong Police Station. Police revealed his wild ride involved reckless driving, an unregistered vehicle, and no supervising driver, as required for learner drivers.
He’s now facing a string of serious charges, including police pursuit, reckless driving, and driving an unregistered vehicle. Denied bail, he’ll appear in Wyong Local Court later today.
Stay tuned as this bizarre case unfolds!
