Hunter Valley Police say there is no evidence to support social media claims that two men asked about explosives at a Hunter Valley mining site, following an investigation into an alleged trespassing incident.
Police confirmed they commenced inquiries after reports of trespassing at a mining operation on Bengalla Road, Muswellbrook, on Saturday, 21 February 2026.
Following investigations, two men were spoken to at Waratah Police Station on Sunday, 22 February 2026, in relation to the matter.
Authorities said they are aware of social media posts suggesting the men questioned staff about security procedures and the location of explosives. However, at this stage, investigators say there is no evidence to substantiate those claims.
Hunter Valley Police also emphasised they maintain strong working relationships with mines across the region, which routinely report incidents as they occur.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the alleged trespassing incident have now been finalised.
