Child Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle in NSW

A young child has tragically died after being hit by a vehicle in Dubbo.

Emergency services were called to Ingrid Place about 6.40pm on Wednesday (April 15, 2026), following reports a child had been struck.

Paramedics treated a four-year-old boy at the scene before he was rushed to hospital. Despite efforts to save him, the child died a short time later at Dubbo Base Hospital.

Police from the Orana Mid-Western Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for mandatory testing. She was later released pending further inquiries.

No other injuries have been reported.

Investigations are ongoing, with police urging anyone who may have information, dashcam, or mobile phone footage to come forward. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
