URGENT: Man Accidentally Released from Prison Now On the Run in Newcastle

Police are urgently appealing for public assistance to locate a man who was mistakenly released from custody and is now wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Kyle Quayle, 35, is currently unlawfully at large after being erroneously released from a correctional centre on Tuesday, 14 April 2026. At the time, he was serving a sentence for stealing and assault-related offences.

Officers from Newcastle City Police District have launched a search and released images of Quayle as efforts intensify to track him down.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 180cm tall, with a medium build, black hair, brown eyes, and currently unshaven.

Quayle is believed to be in the Newcastle area.

Police are urging anyone who sees him or has information about his whereabouts to contact authorities immediately and not approach him.
