A night out on Beaumont Street, Hamilton, turned deadly early this morning, leaving a young man fatally stabbed and a family shattered by the senseless violence.
Just after 2:40 am (Sunday, 17 November 2024), emergency services were called to the bustling Newcastle street following reports of a vicious stabbing. Officers arrived to find a man in his 20s bleeding heavily from stab wounds. Despite desperate efforts by paramedics, he was rushed to hospital but tragically died from his injuries shortly after arrival.
His identity has yet to be formally confirmed, but the grief-stricken family is already in mourning, left to grapple with the devastating news.
Police quickly cordoned off the area, closing Beaumont Street between Tudor and Donald Streets for several hours as detectives combed through the scene. The State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad has joined the investigation. Authorities have since reopened the road, but the shock remains palpable for local businesses and residents.
“We need the public’s help to bring closure to the family of this young man,” a police spokesperson urged. Anyone with dash cam footage or who witnessed the incident is asked to come forward.
