Police are appealing for witnesses following a tense situation at Central Railway Station last Thursday night. At around 11:40 p.m. on September 5, 2024, officers from the Police Transport Command responded to reports of a man dressed in a costume resembling those worn by characters in the hit TV show Squid Game on Platform 24.
Moments later, a train arrived at the platform, and the man boarded one of the carriages. Officers followed and confronted the 38-year-old man inside. Police allege the man was armed with a knife and advanced towards an officer. The officer deployed her taser, and the man was arrested without further incident.
Fortunately, there were no injuries to police or passengers. The man was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for assessment. Police are continuing their investigation and urge anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen something to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
