A police officer is lucky to be alive after being stabbed during a dramatic arrest at Doonside early this morning. The officer, who was attacked in the chest, is now recovering in hospital.
The chaos began around 12:30 AM when emergency services were called to Hill End Road following reports of a violent brawl between five men. Officers from the Blacktown Police Area Command arrived to find a hatchback speeding away from the scene.
A high-speed chase quickly ensued, with backup from Mt Druitt Police, PolAir, and the North West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad. The pursuit came to a screeching halt on Power Street when the fleeing car smashed into a power pole, and three men made a run for it.
During the arrest, a 20-year-old man allegedly lunged at a constable, stabbing him in the chest. The officer was quickly treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to Westmead Hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition.
The three suspects—aged 21, 20, and 18—were taken into custody and are being held at Blacktown Police Station. A crime scene has been set up, and investigators are piecing together what led to the violent confrontation.
