NSW Police are renewing their appeal for information as the 25th anniversary approaches of the unsolved murders of two women found dead in a Newcastle home in the year 2000.
Just before midday on Wednesday, 17 May 2000, police forced entry into a home on Doran Street in Carrington, where they discovered the bodies of 32-year-old Susan Kay and 37-year-old Joanne Teterin.

Despite an extensive investigation at the time involving detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Agencies, no arrests or charges were ever laid. A 2003 coronial inquest led to the case being referred to the Homicide Squad’s Unsolved Homicide Team.
Marking the 25-year milestone, detectives have now launched Strike Force Raphoe II to re-examine the case, review original evidence, and explore new forensic opportunities.
Homicide Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Joe Doueihi, said investigators are committed to delivering justice.
“It was a brutal crime which has remained unsolved for 25 years,” said Det Supt Doueihi.
“We are re-examining all available evidence and following new lines of inquiry. We are again appealing for anyone with information – even something that may seem insignificant – to come forward.”
“The families of Susan and Joanne deserve answers.”
Anyone with information that could assist Strike Force Raphoe II is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is confidential and the public is reminded not to report crime via NSW Police social media channels.
