A 29-year-old man has been charged after allegedly driving more than seven times over the legal alcohol limit in Belmont on Sunday afternoon.
Shocked motorists called police just after 1:30pm, reporting a white Holden Rodeo driving erratically in Speers Point – bouncing off gutters and hitting concrete medians.
Lake Macquarie Highway Patrol officers intercepted the vehicle on Croudace Bay Road, Belmont, where the driver returned a positive roadside breath test.
At Belmont Police Station, a secondary test revealed a staggering 0.359 BAC – well above the legal limit of 0.05.
The man’s licence was immediately suspended, and he was slapped with a Court Attendance Notice. He’s scheduled to face Belmont Local Court on 18 June 2025.
