A body believed to be that of a woman missing since May has been discovered during a police search in Newcastle this morning.
The 68-year-old woman was last seen in early May, sparking an extensive investigation by officers from Newcastle City Police District. She was officially reported missing on Friday, 9 May 2025, after family and friends were unable to contact her.
Search operations—led by police and the NSW SES—were carried out across Martins Creek, Birmingham Gardens, and Jesmond throughout May and July, but initially failed to locate the woman.
At approximately 9am today (Thursday), police located a woman’s body at a property in Birmingham Gardens.
Although formal identification is yet to be completed, police believe it to be the missing 68-year-old. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Investigations are continuing.
