About 9:10pm on Thursday the 1st of August 2024, Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Highway Patrol were conducting patrols of Hakone Road Woongarrah, a sign posted 50km/h residential area with sporting fields when they observed a 1999 Toyota Camry travelling well in excess of the speed limit as they checked its speed at a staggering 192km/h.
The driver was promptly stopped an identified as an 18-year-old man from Hamlyn Terrace, producing a NSW Provisional 1 driver’s license. When questioned about his speed the male stated, “I’ve had a rough week at work. I was just blowing off some steam.”
The male’s licence was immediately suspended and he was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for, Drive at a Speed Dangerous and P1 Driver Exceed Speed Limit – Over 45km/h to appear before Wyong Local Court.
