Today, at approximately 12:05 pm (Thursday, April 4, 2024), authorities responded to a grave collision on the New England Highway at Wingen, situated about 18 kilometers north of Scone.

Preliminary reports indicate a collision involving a semi-trailer and an SUV towing a caravan occurred in the northbound lanes, subsequently impacting a smaller truck in the southbound lane.

Emergency services, including police, NSW Ambulance paramedics, and RFS firefighters, swiftly arrived at the scene to administer aid to the individuals involved.

Tragically, the male driver of the smaller truck, aged in his 40s, sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in critical condition.

Similarly, the male driver of the SUV, aged in his 60s, was also airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition, alongside his female passenger, also in her 60s, who was transported by ambulance in a stable condition.

The male driver of the semi-trailer, aged in his 60s, received treatment for shock at the scene and was subsequently taken to Muswellbrook Hospital for mandatory testing.
