The incident unfolded around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, when the Newcastle Proactive Crime Team Police spotted an SUV on Palmers Road, Freemans Waterhole, allegedly displaying an altered registration plate.
Law enforcement officials attempted to halt the vehicle, but the driver purportedly refused to comply, prompting a pursuit. Raptor North and the Dog Unit swiftly joined the chase to provide support.
Ultimately, the pursuit was terminated in Booragul. Shortly thereafter, an abandoned SUV was discovered on Park Parade, Booragul. The vehicle has since been apprehended by Newcastle City Police and will undergo forensic examination to gather crucial evidence.
As the investigation continues to identify the driver responsible, the police have released a description of a man believed to be able to assist with their inquiries. The individual is described as approximately 35 years old, of Aboriginal appearance, with a medium build and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and shorts during the incident.
