A late-night fire has caused extensive damage to a convenience store in Tarro, with emergency services rushing to the scene just after 1:30am this morning (Friday, 25 July 2025).
Fire crews arrived at the Tarro Grocery and Convenience Store on Anderson Drive to find flames tearing through the rear residential section of the premises. Around 30 firefighters battled the blaze for more than 90 minutes before bringing it under control.
Fortunately, no one was inside the shop or attached residence at the time. However, while extinguishing remaining hot spots, firefighters discovered the body of a deceased cat inside the property.
Police have confirmed that Fire and Rescue NSW investigators believe the blaze was sparked by an electrical fault in a bedroom at the rear of the building.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage.
