🚨 Hunter Valley Fatal Pursuit – Woman Identified 🚨
The woman at the centre of Saturday night’s deadly police chase in the Hunter Valley has been identified as 25-year-old Chloe Louise Elkins.
Police allege Elkins was a passenger in a stolen Honda that failed to stop for officers on the New England Highway at Aberdeen, before crashing at Scone. A 17-year-old boy died at the scene, while the 14-year-old driver and three other minors – including Elkins – were taken to hospital.
Elkins faced court yesterday charged with being carried in a stolen vehicle. She was granted conditional bail despite the fatal crash.
Court documents reveal Elkins had only been bailed three days earlier on separate matters, including domestic violence-related assault, stalking, contravening an AVO, armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, and failing to appear. She is due to be sentenced on those charges today at Wyong Local Court, but we are waiting for an update on these details.
The 14-year-old driver has been charged with multiple offences, including aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death while escaping pursuit. The three other minors also face charges, with one to be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
The incident is under investigation by a critical incident team from Tuggerah Lakes Police District under Strike Force Willgoyne and will be subject to independent review.
