Man Faces Multiple Charges Including Drug and Firearms Offences – Lake Macquarie

Lake Macquarie Police have apprehended a man in connection with a series of alleged drug and firearms offenses, culminating in his appearance before the courts today.

The investigation, spearheaded by the Lake Macquarie Proactive Crime Team, began in April 2024 following reports of a stealing incident. On Wednesday, 24th April 2024, police conducted searches at properties in Second Street, Boolaroo, and McLaughlin Street, Argenton.

During these searches, law enforcement officers seized an amount of buprenorphine from a man at the Boolaroo property. Subsequently, at the Argenton property, a firearm and ammunition were allegedly discovered and confiscated.

The 36-year-old suspect was taken into custody and charged with a litany of offenses including possession of a prescribed restricted substance, possession of stolen goods, possession of a shortened firearm without authority, and various other charges related to firearms, larceny, and deception.

Despite being granted strict conditional bail after an initial court appearance, further inquiries led to another search warrant being executed at a storage unit in Mayfield on Tuesday, 30th April 2024. During this operation, police allegedly uncovered a second firearm and additional ammunition.

The suspect was subsequently re-arrested at Toronto Police Station and charged with further offenses, including possession and supply of prohibited drugs, possession of a prohibited weapon without a permit, and additional firearms-related charges.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before Toronto Local Court today, Wednesday, 1st May 2024.
