Scam Alert: Scammers Targeting Cessnock Goannas and Other Local Clubs

Beware of scammers targeting local sports clubs! Scammers have been discovered creating fake Facebook accounts that look identical to legitimate local sporting pages, and they are using them to trick victims into clicking on fake links to live coverage of sporting events.

Victims are being charged $1 to view a non-existent stream, and the scammers are also harvesting private information such as credit card and email address details when unsuspecting victims sign up to the fraudulent pages. The Cessnock Goannas and other local clubs have been targeted.

If you have fallen victim to this scam, it is important to contact Crime Stoppers or Cessnock Police immediately. MHV News is also urging anyone who has been targeted by this scam to come forward and share their story. Stay vigilant and don’t let scammers take advantage of you!
