Suspended Driver Charged After Fatal Central Coast Crash That Killed Her Brother

Charges have been laid after a teenage boy died following a crash on the Central Coast early this morning.
Around 1:30 am, emergency services responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash on the Pacific Highway in Charmhaven. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a station wagon had collided with a tree. A 17-year-old male passenger, later identified as the driver’s brother, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 19-year-old female driver, who was driving while suspended, left the scene but was located shortly afterward. She was taken to Gosford Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the crash.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident commenced.
In a bedside hearing today, the driver was charged with several offenses, including:
- Dangerous driving occasioning death
- Negligent driving occasioning death
- Failing to stop and assist after a vehicle impact causing death
- Driving while suspended
She was granted strict conditional bail and is scheduled to appear before Wyong Local Court on Monday, 26 August 2024. Additionally, she was issued a subsequent suspension notice.
